Orf in Africa - Day 13......Nshima Day!

Laura and the kids
Had an unexpected helper today - Laura has been volunteering in Botswana for a couple of months and is having a break in Zambia. She gave up her time to come and help with the Nshima buying and cooking.....Nice.

We had fun and the kids were very happy to have a belly full. I bought enough maize meal to last for about four weeks depending on how many bods will be turning up every day.

Five 25kg Bags of meal.....hot work for Orf!

Girls making the Nshima

Time to eat....the Nshima is eaten with Kapenta and vegies

Kapenta.....small dried out fish

Waiting for the Nshima with some of the boys

Do you think Jackson was happy to have a belly full?

  4. Thanks Feltpen...all good.

Don, you guys are gold. Can you email me a photo? I want to make sure the kids know just who is helping them out.

Hey Booey, the footies still have not arrived from Cape Town...but we are making do. That's life here. I'm teaching about 40 kids from 10 to 14 years old and no, I'm not hungry....there are plenty of shops for me to buy food. PS I could use your help to show them a few of your skills :)

  5. Orfie, I have been avidly following your posts and loving it. Not much i can do from here unfortunately. Has made me very thankful for cam and thd kids and how lucky we are to have each other.
If you can send me your bank account details and details of the cost of another month or 2's worth of maize (what ever won't spoil) the Feltham family would like to donate some -if you are happy to do the lugging before you leave!
It's inspiring and I hope you are loving it as much as you appear to be. I have no doubt about what the kids are taking from you.
All our love. Take care. Hope you're not swimming in any parasite infested waters or near any hippos!
